Hi Shrey Karmacharya,
Below we have included feedback provided by the judges that reviewed your entry “Underwater Trash Collector” . We are very grateful to the judges who gave such thoughtful feedback comments. You can use these comments to see ways in which you can improve your inventions. To those going onto the National Invention Convention it is perfectly acceptable to change prototypes, or inventions, or videos so that they incorporate these ideas and improve upon what you have already done!

Feedback:
Clever idea for small items in small bodies of water. Overall, a good presentation.
Judge 2
Feedback:
Given the overwhelming problem of having too much trash in our earth’s oceans, this was a very simple solution on a very small scale. Really enjoyed the demonstration – it was helpful to see it in action! Great personality, Shrey!

Feedback:
Hi Shrey, thank you for your invention. You have addressed one of the major pollution issues in the world. I think my favorite part is how you increased visibility by having the lens and light. Have you thought of how this could be make large scale to pick up trash deep in the ocean? I love how, by using your invention, anybody can be part of the solution!

Feedback:
Shrey, thank you so much for working on this very serious problem. You did a great job defining the issue of harm to marine life from plastics in the ocean. This makes a great device that’s also fun for anyone to use to gather waste at the beach or in streams or lakes.

Hi Shrey! Thank you so much for your video! You are a very well-spoken student! I appreciate your love of the environment and your energy to clean it. I like your idea. You mentioned that you should make it out of PVC pipe, which obviously would be better than cardboard. What about the size of the net? Would you like to make that bigger? Also, is the magnifying glass to help you see under water? Did you test this? I wonder if a magnifying glass would be functional under water and if it would help. Overall, great job, and keep inventing!
Thank you.
