Students’ ideas and prototypes in teams or individuals

Gun that wont go off if you are angry. ( from enrichment- 6th grade girl)

R is inventing a solar powered skateboard that drives for long distances.

L and J are  designing a flying car.

N interviewed an expert at the San Carlos airport. Gretchen is in charge of the helicopters that fly from Half Moon Bay to San Carlos. Her boyfriend is a expert in gilders! N’s team, the Creative Kitties, may be getting help from this gilder expert. The glider competition is on April 24th in San Jose.

E is on N’s team. Her cause, our newest project,  is cleaning air pollution and E

wrote a letter to Air Quality Control that they have called us back to help with our analysis of air contaminates. They responded with a package of resources for the class.

M and J are on the boy’s tech team with J, L, R, and L. They are experimenting and have found good angles for their gliders.

A is working on electrical vehicle sound stiffler that can be installed so cars don’t make noise. Half our class gets woken in the middle of the night from noisy cars.

L is working on sports cameras to help you  better your position in your sport. The sports cameras currently do not scan. Mrs. Gillet needs L’s invention to improve her hockey skills. L and T are better than her.

F and K have a prototype to create a scanner to detect cancer cells. Currently, Stanford has one and theirs may be a different design.

T’s idea is to make a safety bot with J. N has her own prototype in progress.

J has a device that helps people who are disabled.

It will help them walk. It is called the Guide’s Helper or

Quadspectable.

D is inventing an installation for a car that will close or open windshields.

C and Br are working on a material that can change sizes.

A has a schematic of a mini robot that uses lasers to kill cancer.

N is going to an Underwater Robotics class on Saturday with

M will learn how to solder. Their competition date is

April 30th. S, Ch, R, Br, and A,and C.

L has a redesigned 4 times! He has evidence of his determination.  We are citing his STEAM journal.

N’s danger tracker has had been redesigned 7 times.

However, she has no evidence of her determination because

she has been helping others invent in Mrs. Gillet’s enrichment.

S’s first invention is turning pollution into electricity.

She is a big thinker!

R and M are entering the Berkeley writing competition. She is using the same story as the Young Author’s competition.

Er. has a an idea that she will turn into a prototype

on a helicopter to detect pollution.

Ch.and Chr. have a prototype to turn

a regular car into a self-driving car.

A.is our new student. She and M. and coming up with an idea.

I gave a submission to Fablearn 2016 on inventing maker spaces in hopes

of starting  prototyping labs  for teachers who are interested.

The dream is to have a prototyping lab in every classroom. It is easier than in sounds. I partnered with the class next door to share my maker space. A 3rd grade

teacher partnered with my 5th grade class in a buddy system so my my students could teach her 3rd graders how to start their inventions. 5th and 6th graders who completed their homework for the week got to chose an enrichment on Fridays.

6th graders came to my room to start their inventions and designs. Community building began in rooms and throughout the school.

Students were so engaged, some brought items from home, including a

3-d pen that uses melted colored plastic to form shapes. $50.
